USA’s Staff Employee Handbook has been updated for the first time since 2012.

Together, the human resources departments at USA Health and the University of South Alabama coordinated in the revision of the USA Staff Employee Handbook to assure joint applicability and highlight necessary differences. As a staff employee or supervisor, you are responsible for accessing and reviewing the new Staff Employee Handbook and becoming familiar with its policies.

Revisions were made in the following sections:

Employment (Section 2.0):

  • Employment Status (Section 2.2)
  • Change in Status (Section 2.3)
  • Layoff and Recall (Section 2.3.6)
  • Reporting Changes to Personal Status (Section 2.4.3)

Benefits and Services (Section 3.0):

  • Group Short-Term Disability Insurance (USA Health only) (Section 3.4)
  • Educational Benefit Plan (Section 3.5)
  • USA Health Care Authority (HCA) Retirement Plan (Section 3.6.3)
  • Employee Assistance Program (Section 3.12)

Regulatory Policies (Section 4.0)

  • EEO Complaint Procedure (Section 4.1)
  • Lactation Support Program (Section 4.5)
  • Service and Assistance Animals on Campus (Section 4.6)
  • Drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) (Section 4.10)

Attendance and Leave (Section 5.0)
