USA Health leaders join Becker’s webinar to discuss improving maternal health equity
In partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and with support from Merck for Mothers, Children’s & Women’s Hospital used its electronic medical record data to transform how it approaches maternal health equity.
Following a successful project focused on improving maternal health by using electronic medical record data, four leaders from USA Health will join a national webinar by Becker’s Hospital Review this month to share insights from the 2023 initiative at USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
Presenters include:

- Beth Leffard, MSN, RN, CPHQ, quality system manager, USA Health
- Carmen Morehead, MSN, RN, CNL, health equity and performance improvement coordinator, USA Health
- Kristen Noles, DNP, performance improvement manager, USA Health
They will join two others – the chief scientific officer at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the clinical solutions director for AdaptX – as they present outcomes from a study conducted at Children’s & Women’s Hospital in 2023.
The online seminar, Reducing Inequities in Maternal Health Using Real-World EMR Data, is planned for Wednesday, May 22, from noon to 1 p.m. CST.
In partnership with the IHI and with support from Merck for Mothers, Children’s & Women’s Hospital used its electronic medical record data to transform how it approaches maternal health equity.
The webinar will cover:
- How USA Health leveraged real-world electronic medical record data to improve outcomes for hypertension in female patients.
- How USA Health then broadened its efforts to address maternal hemorrhage disparities in partnership with the Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative.
- The objectives of the IHI Maternal Health Equity project.
