Got a question about your employee benefits? The upcoming University of South Alabama Benefits & Wellness Expo “Max out your Benefits” can help you find answers.

The annual expo is set for Thursday, Nov. 7, at two USA Health locations -- 8-11:30 a.m. at Children’s & Women’s Hospital CWEB 2 Atlantis Room and 2-4 p.m. at University Hospital Cafeteria. A third expo session is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon at the USA Student Center second floor ballroom on the main USA campus.

At the expo, USA Health employees will be able to meet employee benefits providers, speak with human resources representatives and find out more about new wellness programs being offered. There will also be vendor-sponsored giveaways, door prizes and refreshments.

“We encourage all employees to stop by as long as their work schedule permits and supervisors approve,” said Tina Stalmach, director of Human Resources Benefits. “This is a valuable time to make the most of your benefits.”

At the expo, employees can:

  • Take advantage of open enrollment for plans. From Nov. 1 through Dec. 2, eligible employees may enroll in the USA Health & Dental Plan (Blue Cross Blue Shield) or USA VIVA Health & Dental plan, and/or add eligible dependents to be effective Jan. 1, 2020. Employees may submit forms directly to Human Resources personnel at the expo or download from southalabama.edu/hr and submit by email (not fax).
  • Take advantage of open enrollment for flexible spending accounts. SouthFlex Health FSA offers flexible spending accounts that allow you to use pre-tax dollars for co-pays and deductibles. Employees may submit forms directly to Human Resources personnel at the expo or download from southalabama.edu/hr and submit by email (not fax).
  • Learn about new wellness initiatives. This year, the university is offering wellness enhancements for employees covered by the USA Health & Dental Plan (Blue Cross Blue Shield). These include Pack Health, a health coaching program, Naturally Slim, a weight loss program, and Teladoc, a telemedicine program.

“Employees should be receiving information about benefits by email and regular mail, including the Open Enrollment Guide,” Stalmach said. “If you’re interested in making a change in your benefits, keep in mind that there is a deadline of 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 for all forms to be submitted.”
