USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital’s Bridge Program provides support for families of babies struggling with serious medical conditions. On Friday, Jan. 3, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo donated $2,500 to the program. According to Rene Sprague, who helped start the Bridge Program, the money will be used to fund grief counseling for families.

A member of the organization, Reynolds and Lindsey Brabner leaned on the Bridge Program for support after their daughter Hartley was diagnosed with a genetic disorder and passed away a little over a year after she was born.

“Giving to this program means everything for me and my family,” said Reynolds Brabner. “We want to give back as much as possible because if this program has helped us, we want it to continue to do the same for other families who will use it for support during a very difficult time,” he said.

The Brabner family also donated preemie clothing to the babies of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s & Women’s Hospital in honor of Hartley.
