Café renovations continue at University Hospital
The renovation will result in a more spacious café and the ability to offer a wider variety of menu items for employees and visitors.
USA Health is continuing to expand and renovate the cafeteria at University Hospital with updated designs and more efficient ways to order new menu items. Construction at University Hospital began April 9 and is expected to be completed by July 22.
“It’s going to be a lot more modern,” says Scott Butcher, senior director of food and nutrition at USA Health University Hospital. “We’re really going to bring it up to date.”
Plans for the cafe renovation call for creating a more engaging and modern look, faster service, a wider variety of menu options and more ways to order electronically.
The cafe will offer seating for up to 130 people, with new tables, stools and chairs. Cosmetic changes, including a new color scheme and wall coverings, will give the cafe a more engaging and modern feel. Additional seating and an open kitchen plan will make the cafe much more spacious.
Self-order kiosks for the grill and deli areas will be installed, as will self-checkout kiosks. An action station will offer cook-to-order dishes with a wider menu selection than before, with options ranging from Thai food to Cajun cuisine. The grill station will offer new breakfast options, and the cafe will introduce a new salad bar.
While construction is under way, the cafe is operating in the nearby conference room with an abbreviated menu.
