Children’s & Women’s Hospital celebrates Jags football

To show support for the Jaguars football team, departments at Children's & Women's Hospital recently took part in football Fridays with contests and parades.

To kick off the South Alabama Jags football season, Children's & Women's Hospital employees celebrated with a decorations contest, score predictions game and tailgate carts inside hospital facilities.

Decorations Contest

Six departments at Children’s & Women’s Hospital competed in a decorations contest for the Jags’ football season.

On Friday, Oct. 1, the surgery department won the contest, landing prizes including a signed football by Jags head coach Kane Wommack and four tickets to a football game. Runners-up included the pediatric intensive care unit and the Women’s Complex Care Center. The labor and delivery, mother-baby and high-risk OB departments also participated in the contest.

Score Predictions Game

Katie Bradford, Pharm. D., assistant director of pharmacy at Children's & Women's Hospital, won a gift basket for participating in the weekly football predictions game. The basket included T-shirts and other items. Each weekly winner noted below won a Jags stainless steel cup.

  • First week - Wendy Newman, patient account representative in patient access
  • Second week - Lisa M. Rodgers, R.N., Mitchell Cancer Institute clinical trials staff
  • Third week - Jacie Strong, R.N., labor and delivery staff member

Tailgate carts
On recent Fridays, staff participated in parades inside Children's & Women's Hospital facilities. They gave away candy, chips and other goodies as they cheered for the Jags.

The next chance to cheer on the South Alabama Jags football team is during USA Health Game Day, when the Jaguars take on the Georgia Southern Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the USA campus in Mobile.
