Doc Rock raises more than $45,000 for USA Health
Former patients, current physicians and healthcare team members at USA Health took part in the inaugural Doc Rock event at Soul Kitchen in downtown Mobile on March 31.
More than 500 fans attended the inaugural Doc Rock battle-of-the-bands style event at Soul Kitchen that raised funds for research and critical patient needs at USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital, Mitchell Cancer Institute, and University Hospital. Supporters raised more than $45,000.
The event featured special guest emcee Shelby Myers with FOX 10 News and guest judges Marty Heslin, M.D., director of the MCI; Chris Jett, administrator of Children’s & Women’s Hospital; Alice Johnson, assistant administrator of University Hospital; and Symone French, VIP artist, and local musical treasure.
The following awards were given:
- The Crowd Favorite Award was presented by Outokumpu to the band RL6 who raised money for University Hospital.
- The Technical Award was presented by CrowderGulf, LLC, to Dr. John and the Burning Sensations who designated their proceeds to the MCI.
- The Fan-atic Award was presented to Bearhead who raised money for University Hospital’s anesthesiology department.
- The Rock the Mission Award also was presented to Bearhead.
