Employee Health to consolidate, open new clinic

The newly combined Employee Health department will handle pre-employment health screenings, vaccinations, mask fittings and treatment for any on-the-job exposures.

On June 9, USA Health will merge the separate Employee Health clinics at each hospital into a single department that will service all employee health needs across the system. As part of the transition, Employee Health will open a new clinic on the campus of USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

The Employee Health department will report to USA Health Human Resources.

“With the recent changes HR has been making to new employee orientation and on-boarding, it makes sense to incorporate employee health into that process,” said Melanie Amberger, manager of Employee Health. “We are already performing pre-employment drug screens, so why not assist new employees with paperwork, badge creation and scheduling for orientation? We think we can really streamline the time to hire.”

In addition to pre-employment health screenings, Employee Health will continue to offer vaccinations for flu on an annual basis. To protect employees on the job, Employee Health will provide fit testing for respirator masks and treat clinical employees following any exposure, such as a needle stick.

The new Employee Health clinic will be located at 1720 Center Street in the parking lot of Children’s & Women’s Hospital, directly in front of the cafe. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Employee Health may be reached at (251) 410-7620 or 37620.
