USA Health employees contributed 370 pounds of food items to a recent food drive organized by USA Health advanced practice providers. The collections will provide 310 meals to local individuals and families in need, said Kimberly Thompson, a certified registered nurse practitioner at Pediatric Surgical Specialists and one of the organizers.

USA Health units with the greatest contributions per employee include surgery/operating room at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, the pediatrics faculty clinic at the Strada Patient Care Center and the surgical/trauma intensive care unit at University Hospital. The units will receive a congratulatory doughnut breakfast to celebrate their generosity, Thompson said.

The food drive was launched in September as part of National Hunger Action Month and in celebration of Advanced Practice Provider Week. The donations will be distributed through Feeding the Gulf Coast.
