USA Health employees receive holiday gift of blankets
On Friday, USA Health provided more than 4,200 employees with gift blankets ranging from red and beige to forest green, all embroidered with the USA Health logo.
When Zan Jones saw her holiday gift from USA Health, a velvety blanket with a fur lining, she threw her hands up and grinned. “I love it. Red is my favorite color,” said Jones, a clerk in the operating room at Children’s & Women’s Hospital. “It’s cold enough right now to use it.”

“All of us will agree that 2020 has been a very challenging year. Your compassion, professionalism and camaraderie in caring for our patients and each other have been extraordinary,” wrote USA Health CEO Owen Bailey and John Marymont, USA vice president for medical affairs and dean of the College of Medicine, in a message packaged with each blanket.
“This blanket symbolizes the warmth and security you have provided to those who have come to USA Health for life-saving care,” the message read. “Thank you for all you do to make USA Health such a special organization. Have a safe and joyful holiday season.”
Brenda Legear, a patient relations coordinator, was unpacking bags of blankets at the loading dock at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, where supervisors were picking them up. “It’s amazing,” Legear said. “It’s a real honor to be able to pass these out.”
Friday also wrapped up the distribution of a special meal to USA Health employees as a thank-you for their hard work. Funding for the holiday lunches was provided by Louis and Melinda Mapp, who continued the community tradition of showing support for healthcare heroes.
