Free benefits to keep employees healthy

One of the value-based benefits for employees is a baseline routine mammogram for women ages 35 to 39 and a routine mammogram each calendar year for women 40 and older with no co-pay when using a USA Health facility.

As part of a comprehensive benefits package, the University of South Alabama provides at least 10 benefits to help employees and their families stay healthy -- at no cost to the employee.

Among them:

  1. Routine office visits: Up to 2 per year for members age 35 and older with no co-pay when using a USA Health provider.
  2. Shingrix vaccine: Two-dose vaccine to prevent shingles, which is recommended by the CDC for adults ages 50 and older.
  3. Well-child exams and immunizations: Recommended doctor visits, routine visits and immunizations at Express Scripts network pharmacies.
  4. Flu vaccine: Provided by hospital health nurse, at an Express Scripts network pharmacy or at the USA Benefits & Wellness Expo.
  5. Adult vaccinations: Based on age and medical history as recommended by the CDC.
  6. Cervical cancer screening: Pap test each calendar year with no co-pay when using a USA Health provider.
  7. Colorectal cancer screening: Routine screenings for members age 50 and over with no co-pay when using a USA Health provider.
  8. Mammography: One baseline routine mammogram for women ages 35 to 39. One routine mammogram each calendar year for women ages 40 and older with no co-pay when using a USA Health facility.
  9. Diabetes education: Classes when medically necessary through certified diabetes educators up to a lifetime maximum of five.
  10. Tobacco cessation: Quit for Life counseling or counseling with nicotine replacement for members and covered spouses.

USA Health provides spiritual health resources to employees 

“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
