USA Health showed appreciation to its employees at the USA Jaguars vs. Georgia Southern University football game on Oct. 3 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Under the USA Health tent in Jag City, about 2,800 guests enjoyed a barbecue tailgate dinner prior to the game.

During the first quarter, representatives from across the health system were introduced on the field: Andrew Haiflich, director of trauma services at University Hospital; Mike Lin, Ph.D., assistant professor of physiology and cell biology and a researcher at the USA College of Medicine; Melody Petty, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics at the USA College of Medicine and a pediatric hospitalist at Children’s & Women’s Hospital; William Richards, M.D., professor and chair of surgery at the USA College of Medicine and a bariatric surgeon with USA Health; Shelia Ross, DNP, stroke certification program coordinator at University Hospital; and Rene Sprague, MSN, a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Bridge Program coordinator at Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

South Alabama fans enjoyed a close game, but the Jaguars fell 20-17 to the Eagles in double overtime.

USA Health has hosted Game Day for the past five years. This is the last year the event will be held at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, as the Jags will play in the new Hancock Whitney Stadium on USA’s campus in fall 2020.
