After a three-decade career in healthcare, Warren Greene will retire as an assistant administrator at USA Health on April 30.

Over the years, Greene has worked in human resources, management engineering, operations and administration, with the past 21 years at USA Health. He was promoted to assistant administrator in 2017.

“Warren has been instrumental in so many projects at University Hospital and Children’s & Women’s Hospital. We can’t thank him enough for his dedication and hard work,” said Owen Bailey, M.H.A., FACHE, chief executive officer and senior associate vice president for medical affairs. “We wish him the best in retirement.”

Greene guided and assisted with the implementation of several initiatives such as Service Recovery and IDEAL Care, which have made tremendous impacts on USA Health culture, said Rachel Garbo, director of patient relations. Service recovery is the process of making things right after something has gone wrong with the healthcare experience. IDEAL Care is the communication framework that USA Health uses to effectively and efficiently communicate with our customers.

“Warren has been instrumental in helping improve our HCAHPS scores and the patient experience since he took over patient relations,” she said. “He always puts the patients and their families first in every decision he makes.”

A 1989 graduate of the University of South Alabama, Greene is a past president of the USA National Alumni Association. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1983-88 after graduating from Williamson High School in Mobile.

Greene also has been active in the community, serving on various boards and committees including chairing the Homeless Coalition of the Gulf Coast and the Three-Mile Creek Partnership, and serving on the board of the Child Day Care Association.

“When I look back over my whole career, it has been a phenomenal ride for me,” Greene said. “I realize that what I was taught by my mom, dad and grandparents that if I put God first and work hard, everything else will take care of itself.”

Greene says he looks forward to working in missions with the Eight Days of Hope organization, based in Mississippi, and continuing in business consulting and real estate investments.
