Employees at USA Health celebrated Halloween with festivities ranging from reverse trick-or-treating to pumpkin carving and creative costumes.

Employees from across USA Health celebrated Halloween with creative costumes, trick-or-treating, skits and pumpkin carving. See all photos on Flickr.

At University Hospital on Friday, employees dressed in colorful sea life costumes to visit patients and staff and hand out candy in a reverse version of trick-or-treating.

On Monday, employees at Children’s & Women’s Hospital took trick-or-treating to their pediatric patients dressed in costumes from “The Little Mermaid,” “Hocus Pocus” and “The Price is Right,” among other themes. Teams also participated in a skit competition that was judged by a panel of young patients. See YouTube video.

Infants in the level III neonatal intensive care unit marked their first Halloween with donated Build-a-Bear costumes. See photos on Facebook.

Several USA Health facilities also hosted contests for pumpkin carving and costumes.

The winners of the pumpkin decorating contest at University Hospital were:

  • First place: Radiology (Save the pumpkins)
  • Second place: Quality, Safety and Performance Improvement (SouthFlight)
  • Third place: Cath Lab (The Claw)

The winners of the pumpkin decorating contest at Children’s & Women’s Hospital were:

  • First place: Quality Management (double-decker ice cream)
  • Second place: Surgery (pumpkin surgery)
  • Third place: Pediatric Emergency Department (ice cream cone)

The winners of the skit competition at Children’s & Women’s Hospital included:

  • Overall Winner: Cardio-Pulmonary (Hocus Pocus)
  • Most Creative: Administration (The Little Mermaid)
  • Funniest: Surgical Services (101 Dalmatians)

The winners of the Halloween contest for the Ambulatory division were:

  • First place: Stanton Road Clinic (All-star baseball theme)
  • Second place: Pediatrics (Disney character theme)
  • Third place: Surgery (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

The winners of the Halloween contest at the Mitchell Cancer Institute were:

  • Overall best: MCI Specialty Pharmacy (Finding Nemo)
  • Best costume: MCI Fairhope (Disney / Pixar)
  • Most original costume: MCI Cancer Control and Prevention (Ty Beanies)
  • Funniest costume: MCI Mobile Infusion Pharmacy (pharmacy theme)
