Employees at USA Health celebrated Halloween with festivities ranging from reverse trick-or-treating to pumpkin carving and creative costumes.

Children's & Women's Hospital

Staff at Children's & Women's Hospital dressed up and handed out candy on Halloween to young patients who left their rooms to trick or treat in the courtyard and breezeway of the hospital. Those who couldn't leave their rooms were treated to bedside deliveries of jack-o-lanterns filled with candy and other novelty items. Later, staff members took part in a costume contest in the courtyard.

Infants in the level III neonatal intensive care unit marked their first Halloween with donated costumes.

Winners of the pumpkin decorating contest were:

1st Place: Cardio pulmonary (Popcorn pumpkin)
2nd Place: Surgery (Pumpkin surgery)
3rd Place: High risk/mother baby (Lactation rapid response)

The winners of the skit competition at Children’s & Women’s Hospital were:

  • 1st Place: Cardio pulmonary
  • 2nd Place: High risk and women's complex care unit
     

University Hospital

At University Hospital, employees dressed in storybook character costumes to visit patients and staff and handed out candy in a reverse version of trick-or-treating. 

Employee departments also were invited to submit decorated pumpkins for a contest.

1st Place: Jessica Chacon, RN, 9th floor, PCU (Ice cream cone)
2nd Place: Ashley Peyer, Manager, Volunteers (Gumball machine)
3rd Place: Angela Hunt, Secretary, Neurosurgery Department (Haunted pumpkin village)
