Dear students, faculty, staff and retirees,

As Chair of the Mobile County Heart Walk, I’d like to encourage you to participate in the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk, scheduled for Saturday Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m., which starts near the Moulton Bell Tower.

For many years now, the University of South Alabama and USA Health have been proud to support the American Heart Association and participate as the host site for the Mobile Heart Walk. The Heart Walk has benefited thousands of individuals suffering from heart disease in the Gulf Coast regions, and also USA has received $17 million in research sponsorship from the American Heart Association over the years. Heart Walk teams/participants will be coming from all over our region. Let’s show our Jag Spirit and show our support for alleviating and reducing heart disease!

At the Heart Walk event there will be various corporate sponsor booths, free health screening, music, team photos, snacks, and lots of fun events for the family. As an incentive, USA employees who form a walking team (as a team leader) by Oct. 12 will receive a pair of Jaguar football or basketball game tickets to an upcoming game. In addition, members of the team who raise the most money by Nov. 5, as well as members of the team with the most walkers, will each receive a pair of game tickets. Additional promotions will be offered in the coming weeks.

Chris Hansen, campus Chief Compliance Officer (chansen@southalabama.edu), and Jaime Creel (jmcreel@health.southalabama.edu), USA Health’s Director of the Heart and Vascular Center, have volunteered to assist Coaches and Teams with the signups process.
