The Department of Internal Medicine collected donations throughout the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to give to Penelope House, which provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence.

“Individuals who seek shelter through Penelope House often show up with the clothes on their backs,” said Brittany Brown, M.S.N., R.N., director of operations for internal medicine.

Among the essentials collected were new towels, blankets, shower shoes, toothbrushes, pajamas, cases of diapers and a cash donation. The items were delivered to Penelope’s Closet on Friday, Oct. 29.

“The Department of Internal Medicine takes our community needs seriously, and when the opportunity was presented, they answered,” Brown said. “I’m proud to partner with such great individuals who invest in our mission.”
