USA Health’s IT department has been awarded a Level 7 certification by CHIME’s Most Wired survey for 2021. A Level 7 certification demonstrates USA Health’s IT department has applied digital technology strategies to improve clinical efficiencies and outcomes in the health system. This certification acknowledges the health system’s use of advanced technologies, such as secure messaging, cybersecurity, electronic exchange of patient information with other health systems, innovative electronic medical record capabilities and telehealth services.

CHIME stands for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, an organization for senior healthcare IT leaders. Membership provides an opportunity for leaders to develop information management in their respective health systems.

“Just like our clinical teams at USA Health, we use outside benchmarks of excellence to measure our capabilities and quality in comparison with other health systems,” said Steven Travers, Ph.D., M.B.A, chief information officer for USA Health. “Now that we have gone through the certification process for the first time in our health system’s history and have CHIME’s feedback, we have a great opportunity to move out of the second highest grouping (Levels 7 and 8) into the highest grouping (Levels 9 and 10) in 2022.”

The Most Wired survey operates as a comprehensive benchmark system for more than 36,000 healthcare facilities in the United States. Certification from this survey reflects healthcare providers’ commitment to digital advances to improve patient care and access. This is USA Health’s second national IT certification. Earlier this year, the department achieved HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Level 6 certification, validating that the health system’s IT capabilities are highly competitive with other regional HIMSS Level 6 organizations.
