Harrison named Employee of the Month

Kayla Harrison, a lead medical assistant at the Mastin Patient Care Center, was named the Department of Internal Medicine's Employee of the Month for January.

Harrison is well known for her leadership and eagerness to help meet the needs of patients and providers. Her colleagues nominated her for being a great cheerleader, her willingness to help, and supporting a patient-centered environment. As a lead medical assistant for a multi-specialty clinic, Harrison juggles many responsibilities and successfully manages them all. Since the inception of the Employee of the Month program, she has earned this recognition at least once a year. Harrison expressed what an honor it is to be recognized and how thankful she is for the support of her work family.

“I love the relationships I have made with my doctors and patients, and how every year that I work for USA Health, our relationship continues to blossom,” she said.

Save of the Quarter winners announced

USA Health University Hospital's Stroke Program has launched a new initiative, "Save of the Quarter." Announced during the monthly Stroke Steering Committee meeting, staff recognized emergency medical service (EMS) personnel and a nurse in the emergency department who went above and beyond to help save a brain. For the fourth quarter of 2024, the "Save of the Quarter" went to AirCARE1 crew, including Johanna Rude, Kenny Hanek and Kristina Meyer, and University Hospital nurse Catherine Graves, who recognized her patient was having a stroke and quickly administered treatment. The initiative is a partnership between University Hospital and Medtronic, a healthcare technology company that develops products to address chronic health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and more.
