Easley receives Daisy Nurse Leadership Award

Easley receives Daisy Nurse Leadership Award

Tracey Easley, RN, a charge nurse in the operating room at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, was presented with a DAISY Nurse Leadership Award.

Comments from her nomination included:

"As a member of the surgical team I work very closely this nominee. She serves as our charge nurse, but is much more. In our department we deal with multiple services and surgeons. She works to make every experience here in surgery a great one. She stands up for the staff when needed, but will not hesitate to let us know when we’re not doing our best. Sometimes, because of all the issues she deals with, she’s in a thankless job. ... Personally speaking, she helped me spiritually when I lost my mother suddenly. Just to have a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on helped me through a very difficult time. She is most deserving of this award. I’m honored to have her as my charge nurse."

Wilstrup receives Daisy Nurse Educator Award

Mary Wilstrup, M.S.N., RN, PCNS-BC, WCC, OMS, a wound care nurse at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, was presented with a DAISY Nurse Educator Award.

Comments from her nomination included:

“Mary is a wound care nurse in the PICU, but she is much more than that to the staff and family members. Working in the PICU, you have to really be prepared for what you see on a daily basis, and you have to expect the unexpected. I have seen Mary in emergency situations where she has worked right next to the other nurses, doctors and everyone in a code or rapid situation. Mary has helped us ward clerks get a break and answer phones, and she even admits our patients for us if we are not available. I have also seen Mary be an advocate for her burn patients.”
