Adult patients (those 19 years old and older) can go to the Freestanding Emergency Department, 181 Hillcrest Road in Mobile, and pediatric patients (those under 18 years old) can come to Children’s & Women’s Hospital for forensic care. If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, please contact Lifelines Rape Crisis Center at 251-473-7273 for 24/7 crisis intervention.

Shepherd receives DAISY Award

Ashton Shepherd, RN, a labor and delivery nurse at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, was honored with a DAISY Award for nurses.

Among her accolades: “Thanks to Ashton, I was able to have the birth I wanted. I feel that Ashton went above and beyond the entire time she was with me. She explained everything she was doing and how it would help. She brought music in the room to distract me. I felt that my needs and goals were listened to. Ashton also enlisted the help of many other nurses to assist me, as well. She was with me the entire time, and I am eternally grateful for her.”
