Maddox appointed director of facilities management at Children’s & Women’s Hospital

Andy Maddox will oversee the hospital’s building operations and grounds, including maintenance and major repairs for all building systems.

Andy Maddox has been named director of facilities management for USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

Maddox is an engineer and a certified facilities professional, and brings more than three decades of experience in building design and construction management, facilities management and planning, and real estate, most recently as director of University Lands and Real Estate Services for the University of Alabama.

In his role, Maddox will oversee all building operations and grounds, including maintenance and major repairs for all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm and sprinkler, in addition to managing design and construction projects.

“The mission of USA Health is to help people lead longer, better lives. The facilities management department plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the hospital, indirectly contributing to the mission,” Maddox said. “My goal is for our department to continue to be a good partner and to deliver excellent customer service to our customers – the medical staff. It’s the medical staff that ultimately makes a positive difference in the lives of our patients.”

During his time at the University of Alabama, Maddox also served as executive director of construction administration and director of facilities management organization, training and strategic planning. Under his leadership, Alabama became one of the top universities in the nation for cellular connectivity.

Maddox holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in engineering with a focus on construction engineering management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He is a board member of the Southeastern Regional Association of Physical Plant Administrators (SRAPPA), one of six regional organizations dedicated to the operation of buildings on the campuses of higher education, museums, K-12 schools, community colleges, state parks, and city and county government bodies.
