More than 100 walkers logged 14.3 million steps during JagFit’s May Madness challenge, with the top individual walker, Robert Schwan of University Hospital, logging more than 1 million steps.

Among the teams, University of South Alabama main campus finished in first place with 60 walkers and 8.7 million combined steps. The top 50 walkers from this team will receive champion T-shirts. Schwan will receive a special individual grand prize yet to be determined.

JagFit launched May Madness on May 3 challenging all employees to join teams for the month-long walking competition.

  • The University Hospital team of 30 walkers logged 4.4 million combined steps.
  • The combined team from Children’s & Women’s Hospital, the Strada Patient Care Center and the Mitchell Cancer Institute had 15 walkers logging 1.3 million steps. The top walker was Johnell Young, with 228,995 steps.

The next JagFit challenge is the Jags Take June Miles Challenge. Walkers, runners and bikers can compete by logging their miles during the month of June. Those logging 50 miles will win a JagFit prize such as a microfiber towel or JagFit jump rope. Those reaching 100 miles will win their choice of a JagFit T-shirt, water bottle or gym bag (while supplies last). The top participant will receive a pair of Beats headphones.
