Five teams from USA Health, the academic health system for the University of South Alabama, are striving to raise money this week ahead of the Mobile Heart Walk planned for Saturday, Nov. 2 on USA’s campus.

Administration has donated four tote bags with USA Health items – one for each hospital and the physician’s group.

The 2024 Mobile Heart Walk chairs are Jo Bonner, president of the University of South Alabama, and his wife, Janee.

The five teams from USA Health represent employees from administration, University Hospital, Children’s & Women’s Hospital, Providence Hospital, and the physician enterprise. Together, they have raised more than $7,000 so far.

There is still time to make a difference, with several teams getting creative to boost their fundraising efforts.

  • The Physicians Group is hosting a bake sale on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in front of the UH cafeteria. Cash and Venmo will be accepted for purchases.
  • Contact Valerie K. Heinl, MHA, MSN, RN, NE-BC, director of clinical compliance and regulatory services about donations for Children's & Women's Hospital.
  • Providence is partnering with the Zaxby’s location on 6551 Airport Blvd. from open to close on Friday, Nov. 1, where 10% of purchases will be donated to the hospital’s heart walk team. You must mention “American Heart Walk Fundraiser Providence Hospital” when placing your order.
