USA Health has chosen a new vendor to manage food and nutrition services, including the cafes, at University Hospital and Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

Morrison Healthcare, which has roots in Mobile as Morrison’s Cafeteria, will assume operations on Thursday, Oct. 1. Morrison Healthcare serves more than 750 hospitals and healthcare systems as part of Compass One Healthcare.

“We are thrilled with this new partnership and journey with Morrison, and look forward to the exciting improvements that are on the horizon with our patient and employee dining experiences,” said Warren Greene, assistant administrator for USA Health.

As part of the transition, hot meals for staff will be suspended after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and will resume on Thursday, Oct. 1. Hot meals also will not be served during the weekend of Oct. 3-4. Grab-and-go items, however, will be available during these times.

A statement from Morrison Healthcare said the company plans to refresh the cafes, and will feature chef-inspired menu selections and action food stations. USA Health employees will continue to receive a discount on cafe items and will be able to use a badge pay system for purchases. Sign up for badge pay using an employee ID number and a credit card.
