One of Us is a series that provides a glimpse into the working world of USA Health, one employee at a time.
What’s your job title, and what does it entail?
Diagnostic scheduler. My job entails scheduling diagnostic imaging, verifying insurance coverage for patients, obtaining prior authorizations from insurance, and effectively communicating with the medical staff and patients about patient orders and appointments.
What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?
It allows me to engage on all fronts. I work to pull all the pieces together related to the patient’s insurance and appointments to improve the patient experience. The rewarding part is being able to help the patients and medical staff obtain a common goal and ensuring a high level of patient care.
What originally made you want to join USA Health?
I joined USA Health because of its reputation in leading healthcare, new opportunities and the learning environment. I wanted somewhere I can continue to grow and better myself, and USA Health promotes all of those.
How long have you been with USA Health?
Eight months.
What has working with USA Health taught you?
That you learn new things every day, whether it’s from the patients, team members or your job. You will always learn a little something that stays with you.
Do you have any goals that you want to achieve in the health system?
A goal of mine would be to continue moving forward in advancement to a management role.
What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
Spending time with family, friends and reading. I love a good book!
Do you have any advice for people who want to work in the health system?
My advice is to just be yourself. Put the work in and have fun. Love whatever you do that makes the world a little better place, and you will succeed.
