What is your job title?
I am the manager of practice operations for pediatrics.

What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?
Because we are such a large department and continue to grow, there are always new projects, whether it is moving our resident clinic to a new location, navigating the many moving pieces of an acquisition or getting our clinics prepared for an accreditation. After each project, when reflecting on what we did well or could have done better, it is always a rewarding feeling to look back at what we accomplished with the team that worked hard to make it happen.

What originally made you want to join USA Health?
I was with another organization for seven years and was ready for a new challenge. I interviewed with several organizations and was hesitant to leave a company I really liked, but when I came for my interview here, it just felt right. When I walked out of the building, I called my husband and told him I just found my next job. My dad worked at University Hospital for more than 25 years, and he retired during my freshman year of college. He still talked about South and his colleagues 10 years after I graduated, so I knew it must be a great place to work and felt like I was following -- in a small part -- in his footsteps.

How long have you been with USA Health?
Almost two years.

What has working with USA Health taught you?
To always be prepared for and open to changes. There have been many changes over the past two years I have been with USA Health, and I am excited for what is to come. One of the reasons I love healthcare is because there will always be new projects or challenges that come up, and getting to work with a strong collaborative team makes navigating those challenges easier.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
I love being on the water and spend most weekends on the river with my family. Dog River sunsets are one of my favorite things.

What advice would you give to people who want to work in the health system?
It is a great place to work, but it is important to be open-minded and listen to your co-workers, providers and nurses. You cannot always make everyone happy, and that’s okay. As long as you communicate and are accountable, you will form great working relationships, which are critical to achieving success.
