What is your job?
I work on the 9th floor in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as a registered nurse. My job entails facilitating throughout a patient's stay with different disciplines. I am responsible for administering medications, drawing labs, helping with different therapies, assisting with procedures and helping patients with their activities of daily living.

What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the positive physical and emotional changes throughout a patient's stay.

What originally made you want to join USA Health?
I went to Auburn University, and I was looking for an academic-based learning environment. I did my practicum on the fifth floor and enjoyed the team approach to patient care.

How long have you been with USA Health?
A little more than two years

What has working with USA Health taught you?
Working at USA Health has taught me compassion for every type of person, no matter their circumstance. It has also taught me how to think critically and be an active member of the patient care team.

Do you have any goals that you want to achieve in the health system?
I would like to get Intensive Care Unit and labor and delivery experience. I would also like to further my education and become a nurse practitioner in the future.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
Taking my dog to the park or going to the beach.

Do you have any advice to give to people that want to work in the health system?
Be open to every opportunity, even ones you don’t expect are for you. Also, never be afraid to be a patient advocate and speak up when they can’t.
