#OneOfUs is a series that provides a glimpse into the working world of USA Health, one employee at a time. This week, meet Dana Bleyswyk, R.N., a University Hospital employee in surgical operations. Bleyswyk recently was recognized as UH employee of the quarter.
What does your position entail?
Posting the surgical cases, communicating to various clinics and physicians, and coordinating necessary equipment. I always describe the schedule as a puzzle.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
When the schedule runs smoothly.
Why did you join USA Health?
When I was in nursing school, I knew I wanted to work at USA. Everyone always told me if you can work at USA, you can work anywhere.
How long have you been with USA Health?
I started working in the operating room in 1995. I worked for 11 years and left to stay home with my children. I returned in 2019 to my current position.
What has working here taught you?
It shows me how necessary we are to the community.
What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
My hobbies are keeping up with my children’s various activities such as lacrosse and plays.
