What is your job title?
I’m a word processing specialist in the pulmonary division.

What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?
Helping others and being part of a team that supports and encourages learning new things.

What originally made you want to join USA Health?
I started at USA Health as a temporary employee in the volunteer services department. I had an awesome time working in that department and the gift shop, because it allowed me to meet new people and showcase my skills.

Currently, I work in the pulmonary department among some of the most influential doctors, who encourage me to be the best that I can be. Whether it’s answering the phones in the department, greeting the drug reps or typing business correspondence, I find it rewarding to be able to help others and to do my day-to-day work well.

How long have you been with USA Health?
Four years as a full-time employee.

What has working with USA Health taught you?
That you have two jobs. Your first job is to help other people. The second one is your actual job. The better you are at the first one, the easier the second one becomes.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
I love to read, dance, spend time with family and play with my grandchildren.

What advice would you give to people who want to work in the health system?
No matter where you start in the healthcare field, whether it’s as an assistant, volunteer or intern, you have the choice to pick what field you want to pursue. There are so many different career options within the healthcare industry. You likely will find at least one that you can enjoy. It does not matter what job you choose within the industry; you will be helping patients all the same to get the care they need.
