What’s your job title, and what does it entail?

I am a neonatal intensive care unit nurse. I provide care to neonates ranging in age from 22 weeks gestation to full-term gestation. I am a member of the PICC line team in the NICU. Our PICC line team places peripherally inserted central catheters in the premature infants in need of long-term intravenous therapy.

What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?

The most rewarding part of being a NICU nurse is seeing the babies go home. It takes an army of caregivers to get the babies to this point, and it is rewarding to see that we succeeded.

What originally made you want to join USA Health?

I wanted to join USA Health as a new graduate in 2000 because it was a teaching institution. I wanted to learn in an environment that would give me the knowledge and experience I needed to provide the best care for my patients.

How long have you been with USA Health?

22 years

What has working with USA Health taught you?

USA Health has taught me the meaning and importance of teamwork. The healthcare industry can be a stressful environment and having the support of your co-workers is everything.

Do you have any goals you want to achieve in the health system?

I am currently enrolled in graduate school, and I hope to become a neonatal nurse practitioner one day.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?

Watching my daughter play softball, my son play golf, and my other daughter sing. They keep me pretty busy! I like the beach and pool when time allows.

Do you have any advice for people who want to work in the health system?

There is no other health system in our region that provides the level of care that we do at USA Health. If you’re looking for experience, you will get it here, and if you’re looking for co-workers who are like family, you will stay here.
