Urologist among young physicians visiting state capitol

Mariarita Salvitti Fermin, M.D., a pediatric urologist at USA Health University Urology and assistant professor of urology, was in Montgomery recently to meet with legislators, including state Sen. April Weaver, and other young physicians representing the Young Physicians Section of the Alabama Medical Association.

"The goal of the meeting was to bring awareness to some important matters and mostly the need of making licensing in Alabama easier," Salvitti Fermin said.

 
USA Health reaches prospective volunteers at city event

USA Health attended the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Volunteer Fest held at Medal of Honor Park on Saturday, April 20. Representatives provided information about our programs to prospective volunteers, and they handed out information seeking donations for the Jolly Trolley Carts at University Hospital. The Summer Teen Program will kick off in June, and comfort care items for the carts will be given to patients.

USA Health provides spiritual health resources to employees 

“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
