USA Health internal medicine department annual donation drive gives back to community

The USA Health Department of Internal Medicine recently presented more than 4,700 toiletries, coloring books, word search books and similar activity items to the Strickland Youth Center at the conclusion of its annual community engagement event.

"Every year it gets better and better," said Brittany Brown, RN, MSN, director of operations for internal medicine.

Department staff selected the center beneficiary of this year’s drive because of its critical needs for mental health support and hygiene care for the youth facing challenges like anxiety, depression, and ADHD, along with families lacking access to personal care items. These items will be made available for children in detention and on probation.

In years past, department leaders have delivered items to recipients such as Penelope House, Feeding the Gulf Coast, Whitley Elementary School, and The Sybil Smith Homeless Shelter, a project of the Dumas Wesley Foundation.
