Cardiology leads fundraising efforts for 2024 Mobile Heart Walk
USA Health employees raised more than $11,000 for the 2024 Mobile Heart Walk held on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the University of South Alabama. The USA Health Cardiology team, the Pulse Pioneers, and its coach, Brittany Brown, RN, MSN, NE-BC, director of operations for internal medicine, earned the honors of top fundraising team and top fundraising individual.
“Thank you to each and every one of you for going the extra mile to raise awareness for heart health and representing USA Health Cardiology,” Brown said. “Without a doubt, we have the best team.”
The Pulse Pioneers was the top fundraising team out of 94 total teams with $4,265.72 raised. Brown was the top fundraising individual out of 536 walkers. She raised $2,518.92, slightly more than USA President Jo Bonner, who co-chaired the event with his wife, Janee, and raised $2,500.
Funds raised through the Heart Walk support research on stroke and heart disease, help train more people in lifesaving CPR, honor survivors, and more.
Brown and Chris Malozzi, D.O., cardiologist and associate professor of internal medicine, said local participation sends a strong message to the community about the importance of heart health.
“My goal is for USA Health Cardiology to be the premier location for cardiovascular care along the Gulf Coast and beyond,” Malozzi said. “This was an opportunity to show our community that we are serious about heart health.”
