Pathology hosts Mardi Gras mask contest
Participants painted, sewed, glued, beaded and feathered their creations with the hope of winning one of the cash prizes.
To celebrate the Carnival season, the USA Health Department of Pathology hosted a Mardi Gras mask contest.
Participants painted, sewed, glued, beaded and feathered their creations with the hope of winning one of the cash prizes. Rules specified that the decorated masks must cover the nose and mouth; and they must be able to be worn, not just displayed.
Pathology resident Sarah Anderson, D.O., took first place and won $50.
Sara Avalos, M.D., pathology resident, and Carolyn Pitt, pathology transcriptionist, came in second and third place, respectively, and each won $25.
Susan Magliato, electron microscopy technologist and professional mask maker, and Bettina Kelson, radiology secretary and COVID-19 mask seamstress, served as judges.
