USA Health recognized Patient Safety Awareness Week from March 13-17. This annual event brings attention to the role safety plays in providing quality patient care and how everyone can contribute to making improvements.
Focusing on safety helps protect patients and reduces negative health outcomes. In addition to improving patient safety and risk management, the week also recognizes the work that is already being done.
“We are delighted that Local Goodness is returning to Mobile as a way to help showcase how the hospital and its pediatric emergency center benefit our community,” said Debbie Browning, MSN, R.N., CENP, CEO of Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
The annual symposium is hosted by the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at USA Health University Hospital in conjunction with the Alabama Gulf EMS System.
USA Health employees may receive tuition credit for up to 5 semester hours and applicable fees each semester.
“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
