A six-tier prescription drug list is among the pharmacy benefit changes that took effect Jan. 1 for employees covered under the Blue Cross Blue Shield USA Choice and USA Select plans.

On Jan. 1, Prime Therapeutics became the new pharmacy benefit manager for USA’s Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. With direct ties to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Prime is a national leader in pharmacy management with a network of more than 60,000 independent and chain pharmacies nationwide.

Among the pharmacy benefit changes for USA Choice and USA Select plan members:

  • A six-tier list of prescription medications and the co-pays for each tier. For instance, the co-pay for generic-brand medications is $10 compared with $50 for preferred brand name versions. View the list here: 2022 Prime Formulary – Six-tier Prescription Drug List.
  • A pharmacy annual deductible of $100 per individual with a maximum of $300 per family per year.
  • Home delivery services from Meds Your Way through Amazon Pharmacy. Plan members can receive up to a 90-day supply of medicines with free standard shipping for only two copays.
  • More than 140 retail pharmacies in network located within 25 miles of Mobile, including the MCI Specialty Pharmacy.

Plan members can register for or log into their myBlueCross account at AlabamaBlue.com. Located on the right-hand side of the myBlueCross home page, the Manage My Prescriptions section provides links for you to find medicines and in-network pharmacies, and to view your prescription history.
