USA Health University Hospital recently installed the new Philips Incisive CT and iQon Spectral CT in its Radiology Department with the goal of better serving patients’ needs. The state-of-the-art systems combine advanced AI and acquisition software with intuitive workflow, allowing patients to be more comfortable during their procedures and providing the latest in imaging performance.

As the world’s first spectral detector-based CT, the iQon delivers multiple layers of retrospective data in a single, low-dose scan. The machine is notable for its neurological applications, especially for patients following a stroke or blood clot.

“Dual-energy CT, also known as Spectral CT, is a game changer in diagnostic imaging. It is the greatest advance in the modality in 20 years,” said Samuel McQuiston, Jr., M.D., Radiologist and Vice Chair of Quality and Safety for Radiology at USA Health. “This technology can improve lesion detection and characterization as well as reduce the number of follow-up exams needed for a definitive diagnosis.”

Coupled with the new iQon CT machine, the Incisive CT provides fast image reconstruction at more than 80 images per second, high image quality at the lowest manageable dose, and advanced scanning capabilities for pediatric cases. The Incisive CT is primarily utilized for Interventional Radiology, or outpatient cases such as biopsies, drainages, and tumor and lesion ablations, among other procedures.

“I am so proud to be a part of USA Health University Hospital expanding even more and being able to offer our patients leading-edge technology,” said Gregory House, Director of Radiology and Imaging Services at USA Health.

Both the iQon and the Incisive CT machines have also received their American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation at University Hospital.
