Santos Nuno, a radiology clerk at USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, recently won the Frank Greiner Radiology Employee Award for dedication to patient care and her colleagues.

“Santos has an excellent work ethic and always goes above and beyond for her co-workers and our patients,” said Eduardo Rel, technical director of radiology at the hospital. “She represents someone worthy of this award by not only meeting but exceeding the criteria.”

In 2016, the family of Frank Greiner, M.D., a former professor of radiology at the USA College of Medicine and chief of the neuroradiology program at USA Health, endowed a yearly award through the University of South Alabama Foundation to recognize individuals who show excellence and self-motivation in the field of radiology. Greiner died in 2015.

The cash award is presented on “Talk Like a Pirate Day.” The honor is meant to recognize staff members who are non-medical or non-nursing for their excellence of work and self-initiative, and their sense of humor.
