NSICU wins Most Consistent Score

In the fourth quarter, the neuroscience intensive care unit at University Hospital won the Most Consistent HCAHPS score based on a national, standardized survey of patient perspectives, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.

The unit won the Sapphire Award, having met the goal of reaching the 75th percentile. It achieved two months of consecutive data for the Overall Rating of Care composite, scoring 98 percent in August and September.

Sutherland named Kudos winner

Erica Sutherland, L.P.N., who works in Internal Medicine for the Ambulatory Division, has been named the Kudos winner for October. Sutherland goes above and beyond in providing high quality patient care and customer service.

Lindsey named Employee of the Quarter

Taryn Lindsey, R.N., was named employee of the quarter at University Hospital. Lindsey is the working supervisor for the Burn Center, Wound Services, CCU and PICC. She was nominated by a co-worker for her dedication and helpfulness. Lindsey received a certificate of recognition and a gift card.

Carpenter named Employee of the Month

Lesa Carpenter, Ed.S., M.Ed., LBSW, a social worker at the Mitchell Cancer institute, has been named employee of the month for October. Among the comments made in her nomination: “Lesa displays patience, empathy, a caring attitude and clear communications in dealing with the patients and their families.” “She exhibits teamwork every day by handling a multitude of patient assistance-related issues and referrals from numerous departments.”

Blood drive drawing winner announced

Hilary Bolton, who works in Interventional Radiology is the winner of the blood drive drawing at University Hospital.

USA Health provides spiritual health resources to employees 

“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
