Brown named employee of the month

Tyeshia Brown, who works in accounts payable at the Mitchell Cancer institute, has been named employee of the month for November. Among the comments made in her nomination: “Ty consistently exceeds expectations and takes the initiative to find ways to make things easier.” “Her interactions with our multitude of vendors are always professional, and she ensures that we pay our bills on time and accurately.” “She has a work ethic and a dedication to doing what is required and always with a beautiful smile and incredible attitude.”

Mura named DAISY Award winner

Deborah Mura, R.N., a nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, has won a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award honors the super-human work that nurses do for patients and families every day.

“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
