Andy Poche, supervisor of facilities management at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, was named employee of the month for August. Among the comments made about Poche: “During a recent emergency with the master chiller, Andy’s quick judgment, calm under pressure and dedication to his job allowed the MCI to open its doors without the least interruption in care for our patients. Without his efforts, staff would not have been able to tolerate temperatures in the building to work, patients would not have received treatment, research projects would have been jeopardized and potential damage to ancillary equipment could have occurred.” “Within hours, he had two 18-wheeler trucks in transit to Mobile with the only two available chillers in the country.”
