More than 100 gun locks were distributed last week during a safety fair held at the Strada Patient Care Center. Through a grant from SafeKids USA, USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital distributed the gun locks at no charge to community residents, according to Courtney Thomson, pediatric community outreach coordinator for the hospital.

Research shows that some 59% of children cannot tell the difference between a real gun and a fake gun, according to SafeKids Worldwide.

More opportunities to receive gun locks from the hospital will be announced this fall. Stay up to date on the latest news by following the Children’s & Women’s Hospital Facebook page.
