It’s getting dark earlier, and it is as important as ever to be vigilant in parking lots at work and everywhere else.

As the days get shorter and winter approaches, it’s vital for everyone to use extra caution as they come and go from their vehicles when heading in and leaving work.

“It’s so important to be aware of your surroundings whether you are at work, running errands or heading out with friends,” said Rosemary R. White, M.B.A., assistant administrator for USA Health. “And if you see something, please say something.”

Here are more safety tips to keep in mind throughout the holiday season and beyond:

  • Walk in groups at night.
  • Make sure your phone is charged so you can call for help in an emergency.
  • Lock your car doors after entering or exiting your vehicle.
  • Always close your car windows and sunroof when away from your car.
  • Don’t leave valuables such as cell phones or gifts in your car in plain sight.
  • Never leave your car running.
  • Take your keys with you when you leave your vehicle.
  • Ask a member of the security team at either hospital if you need an escort at night.

The Bubble transport service from the USA Health employee parking lot on Lambert Street has new, expanded hours. Service now runs from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Bubble provides free transport to and from Children's & Women's Hospital for all employees.
