Employees and visitors entering USA Health hospitals and the Strada Patient Care Center now will be screened for COVID-19 with the help of thermal, contactless technology. Temperature-checking devices have been installed at six entrances to the hospitals and clinics to speed up our screening process.

Steven Travers, chief information officer for USA Health, said the new devices will work in conjunction with in-person screening questions for visitors and the online screening app for employees to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“These devices make it easier for our screeners to focus on interacting with visitors and less on manual temperature scanning,” Travers said. “They also speed up the process reducing the amount of time necessary to check in.”

The temperature kiosks use thermal imaging technology to scan a person’s forehead and displays body temperature results within seconds. Those who register a fever will receive specific directions from a screener.

According to USA Health COVID-19 guidelines, staff, physicians, residents and providers who have a fever must stay home and contact their department manager, program director or director of operations. Other symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat or new loss of taste or smell.
