Lace up your tennis shoes and join University of South Alabama President Tony Waldrop for one of two lunchtime Trek Talks. The noon walks are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12, starting in the Geri Moulton’s Children’s Park and Thursday, Nov. 21, starting in front of the Mastin Professional Building.

During the walks, Waldrop will discuss:

  • The importance of building a culture of wellness for all employees.
  • The relationship between USA Health and USA main campus.
  • The role of USA Health in the Mobile community.

The first 50 employee walkers will receive a free to-go lunch.

Waldrop was a six-time All American while at the University of North Carolina. He set the world indoor record (3:55.0) in the mile in 1974. He was the NCAA indoor 1,000-yard champion in 1973 and the NCAA indoor mile champion in 1974. He also won a gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games in the men’s 1500 meters.

USA Health provides spiritual health resources to employees 

“Healthcare workers have to process and carry many emotions as they care for patients who are experiencing disease and traumatic events,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, manager of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department. “Safe and sacred spaces to aid in the processing of emotions are vital to our health and ability to sustain this type of work.”
