USA Health is expanding its oncology care team with the addition of Zachary M. Trisel, M.D., a fellowship-trained medical oncologist and hematologist who will see patients at the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute, the region’s only academic cancer treatment center.
Trisel, who is an assistant professor of interdisciplinary clinical oncology, treats a variety of cancers including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer.
“My top priority is to deliver timely personalized cancer care to the Gulf Coast region. I strive to provide all patients access to innovative diagnostic tools and therapeutic approaches that minimize treatment-related side effects and improve survival rates,” he said. “I hope to build trustworthy relationships with patients, their family and friends, while helping them navigate through the uncertainty associated with a cancer diagnosis."
Trisel completed a fellowship in medical oncology at USA Health/Mitchell Cancer Institute and a residency in internal medicine at Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts.
Among his research interests are Phase III clinical trials, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and next-generation sequencing.
