University Hospital names interim chief nursing officer

Sheri Salas, R.N., M.S.N., C.N.L., has worked as a nurse at University Hospital since 1996 and has served as a leader in nursing administration for the past eight years. She has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing since 2015.

University Hospital has launched a national search to fill its chief nursing officer position. While the search progresses, Sheri Salas, R.N., M.S.N., C.N.L., director of nursing at University Hospital, will serve as interim chief nursing officer.

“The chief nursing officer for University Hospital is a critical leadership position for us,” said Shannon Scaturro, M.S.H.A., M.S.N., C.R.N.A., F.A.C.H.E., administrator for University Hospital and assistant vice president for medical affairs. “Sheri’s appointment will ensure a smooth transition in leadership and nursing operations.”

Salas has worked as a nurse at University Hospital since 1996 and has served as a leader in nursing administration for the past eight years. She has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing since 2015.

Salas received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of South Alabama.
