USA Health expands digestive health services
The 8,000-square-foot space boasts state-of-the-art equipment and will reduce wait times and expedite patient care.
USA Health providers have two new options for patients requiring digestive health services to receive same-day or next-day appointments with USA Health Digestive Services.
- The Digestive Health Center at USA Health recently launched open access endoscopy for established patients of USA Health providers who need routine screening with a telemedicine visit.
- Additionally, an acute care appointment pathway has been established to see patients with symptoms within 24 hours, including same-day appointments when needed.
“As demand for GI services has increased, we have expanded with a new endoscopy suite, offering more rooms, more anesthesia support and additional staff to best meet the needs of our patients and providers,” said Benjamin Niland, M.D., interim chief for the division of gastroenterology and assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.
“We understand that patients don’t want to wait weeks for an appointment,” he said. “That’s one of the reasons we identified advanced practice providers specifically to offer same day and next day appointments for both routine screening needs and those with more acute digestive health issues.”
In August 2020, USA Health celebrated the opening of the Gastroenterology Endoscopy Lab at University Hospital. The 8,000-square-foot space boasts state-of-the-art equipment and will reduce wait times and expedite patient care. New equipment includes high-definition monitors and state-of-the-art scopes to best detect polyps and advanced lesions.
