Vaccinations to begin for those 75 and older
USA Health is scheduled to receive an additional 3,000 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine later this week, and we will quickly start distribution to include first responders and people 75 years of age or older.
USA Health has provided COVID-19 vaccination to nearly 3,000 healthcare workers and emergency medical transporters since Dec. 15.
Gov. Kay Ivey recently announced that on Jan.18 the vaccine allocation will be expanded to include first responders and people 75 years of age or older.
USA Health is scheduled to receive an additional 3,000 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine later this week, and we will quickly start distribution. We will continue to offer vaccines to our employees, as well as continue vaccination for other eligible community group 1a candidates, such as pharmacists, dentists and medical office personnel.
In addition, we will incorporate vaccination availability for first responders and people 75 years old or older. USA Health serves as the medical home provider for more than 10,000 patients who are 75 or older.
Due to limited vaccine availability, we are asking that our medical home providers contact their most vulnerable eligible patients and offer them vaccination. Instructions on how to sign up patients for appointments will be released by Wednesday, Jan. 13. Pending that, we receive our new allocation, vaccine appointment availability will begin on Jan. 18.
The vaccines will be administered at the Mobile Civic Center Arena (testing currently takes place in the Expo Hall). Vaccination will be by appointment only. Please do not email appointment requests. Availability will be via the scheduling tool only. As more vaccine becomes available, we will continue our COVID-19 vaccine administration efforts to the eligible populations as defined by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
